BaseLoc DLS mapping + conversion for Alberta and Saskatchewan...
What it is
BaseLoc DLS is a free web service that lets you map Alberta and Saskatchewan LSD (legal subdivision) addresses and convert these addresses to and from GPS (latitude and longitude) and UTM (universal transverse mercator) coordinates.
How it works
It's pretty simple: Just click any where in Alberta or Saskatchewan, and a marker will appear displaying that location's LSD address according to the domain land survey system used in those provinces. (Computations are based on survey data — in case you were curious.) In addition to LSDs, BaseLoc DLS will display the latitude, longitude and universal transverse mercator coordinates of clicked locations. Conversely, you can enter these values in the fields below to view the location of LSDs, GPS or UTM coordinates.
What it costs
BaseLoc DLS has always been, and will always be, free. However, we are working on adding a number of exciting features that will appeal to commercial users of the service. Details on this commercial web service — BaseLoc DLS Pro — will be released in the coming weeks. In the meantime, if you have questions or comments on this service, please let us know what you think: .
